Branch by Robert Braathe

It hit me at 8:30
When I was being a little flirty

Was sitting about 20 rows back

I heard the girl playing

The song I was just saying

Was the reason I bought it from the rack.
Her name ain’t Shelly

But she put a fire in my belly

Got her tunes on all of the time

When I’m working or out on the ranch

Can’t wait till I see her

Next time at the theater

It’s why I love the Branch
I wrote her a letter

Because she made me feel better

After playing her tunes hundreds of times

A few year later

I felt even greater

After putting together a couple of rhymes
Her name ain’t Shelly

But she put a fire in my belly

Got her tunes on all of the time

When I’m working or out on the ranch

Can’t wait till I see her

Next time at the theater

It’s why I love the Branch
I saw her at a bar

When she played the guitar

I sat there and gave her a pen

She came on over

It was my lucky clover

She said “it’s great to see you again.”
Her name ain’t Shelly

But she put a fire in my belly

Got her tunes on all of the time

When I’m working or out on the ranch

Can’t wait till I see her

Next time at the theater

It’s why I love the Branch
